To you what was the Watchtower Socity's biggest lie ?

yes, what was the biggest lie that you can think of, that persuaded you to realize that they were not who they said they were ?.

for myself it would have to be the year they picked as the destruction of ancient jerusalem 607 bc.. i have an assumption this was done purposely to coincide correctly with making 1914 an a important pivotal date.

in human history, which by all factual evidence it was not.. unassuming and deceiving manipulation for self marketing purposes.

I was speechless. If this book [collection of books; biblyos] was supposed to be 'divinely inspired', then either the Israelites were idiots who didn't have a clue as to how the earth really worked, or their god didn't have a frikkin' clue - or wanted them in danger of being destroyed while 'he' was handing out orders, or... Their god didn't really exist.
Good point Ziddina , the lies of the bible parallel themselves well with the lies of the WTS.
The human ignorance factor of the ancient civilizations are indisputably factual.
Being a follower of human ignorance and supporting it never appealed to me either.

"holding out hope" or"coming back to Jah"

omfg i can't stand it anymore.. i am so sick of hearing and reading things from my family that says that they are "holding out hope" that i will come back.

or they say that they are praying to jehovah that i will come back.. what other religion is so crazy that they say these things?!?!?!?!

if a buddhist person decides not to go to their church anymore, do their parents/family bombard them with this crap?

This indentured " holding hope " presents itself of course because the ever present little time left
scenario, which every JWS gets indoctrinated with at every meeting they go to or every magazine
or book they read by the WTS. The lack of a rational sense of reasoning on this information,
cultivates and supports typical JWS to push this belief system, extraneously on to others who simple
are not with them on this suggestion. I hope my family gets a bolt of lightning from the god of integrity
and honesty and they'll realize what a sham they got themselves involved with. I wont hold my breath on that though.
One thing you can be assured of is that the psychology of the JWS right from the bottom to the very top of the tower
is not wholesome and healthy by any stretch of the imagination.

An organization so apt to make the huge number of "unintentional mistakes" of biblical interpretation as has been made by the WTS is clearly being deceptive when they claim to be God's channel of communication.
Exactly and the reason that their doctrines were falsely presented was they wanted something they
could sell and commercialize for their published literature.
They sold false doctrine, can anyone with a sound frame in mind join that with god's channel,
I don't think so. Logic states that if that is true then every falsely devised Christian based faith is god's channel of communication.

knowing that most people condemn ethnic cleansing and the extermination of the jews, how do you as a jw's rationalise mass murder by god at armageddon?.

i always had problems reconcilling this and was wondering if anyone really could..

The cruelty of Jehovah correctly depicts the cruelty of mankind's sense of humanity of the times when men first imagined this one and great god.
The Israelites embellished many stories of how great and powerful their god was for many reasons particularly by men who
aligned themselves with this god in an effort to gain prominence and stature within their identifying social culture.
This still continues today in organizations such as the WTS. or JWS.
Religions prominent tenement is about control and the JWS use Armageddon as a vehicle to accomplish this.
There is no Jehovah the mass murderer so don't worry about it. Homerovah

One thing is certain the solar system in all its variants were perceived by ancient cultures as spiritual deities and so were worshiped
as such, spanning as far back before the Egyptian dynasties right up to the last millennium.

I would have to agree with you Black Sheep, that what was presented in the movie may have been overly played out regarding Horus.
One thing that is clear though is that the Egyptians were heavily involved with astrological symbolisms in their mystical ideologies,
notably the sun and the moon being the eyes of their gods as an example.
Ironic isn't that the Egyptian eye of Horus or Ra looking out from the top of the Great Pyramid or the Pyramid itself played such a important
role in the date calculating of important years used by none other than C T Russell of the WTS. ( Dawn of the Millennium )
This Egyptian eye is still used on the US dollar bills.
